Info received from 73 Kees K5BCQ

Update: Bare circuit boards for this project are available at $7 for Teensy or $10 for Teensy++.

Photos and schematics of the boards are shown below.

Contact 73 Kees K5BCQ (email) for info or to purchase.

OK, the Si570 is also operational on the board, so it's ready to make available. I've sent out pictures and schematics earlier to the AQRP reflector. You can refer to those. This is an Arduino Teensy Development Board V1. It is NOT a specific kit of anything, it's for hardware/code development. You decide what parts you want to add, what Arduino "Sketches" to pick up for it (I know of only 3 right now.....below), and/or what Arduino "Sketches" you want to try your hand at. Be sure and tell us how you are making progress.

The following Arduino "Sketches" are available.....

1) "Morse_Code_Buddy _Tone_Speed".....this uses the Teensy, the Beeper, and 2 pots (for speed and tone), does not flash the LED. Comes up in "practice mode"

2) "Morse_Code_Buddy_Keyboard".....this uses the Teensy, the Beeper, the Keyboard, and LCD (to display characters being sent, speed, and tone), does flash the LED on Teensy. Comes up in practice mode, Alt/P takes it in and out of practice mode, arrow keys control speed and tone, F1-F8 keys load various sketch scenarios....and some more stuff.

3) "Si570_Controller_II_Keyboard"......this uses the Teensy, the Keyboard, the Rotary Encoder, the LCD, the EEPROM, the Si570 chip ......you have to initialize the EEPROM by holding in the PB on the Rotary Encoder on the first power up, it has only basic frequency change cability using the Keyboard or Rotary Encoder. The LCD displays the frequency and the lower line will contain parameter, etc data but is presently TBD. You are welcome to jump in and write some Arduino code.

The board includes I/O pads/connectors for the following:

  1. the Teensy board which you order from www.pjrc.com
  2. a Si570 chip, you may have one, or I'll sell you one for $15
  3. a backlit or non-backlit 16x2 LCD, you may have one, or I'll sell you one for $5
  4. a BCD (0-7) PB Encoder, there is one in the Bag-O-Parts (below)
  5. a Rotary Encoder with PB, there is one in the Bag-O-Parts (below)
  6. a header for key/paddle attachment
  7. a header for SPI interface (for graphics LCD, etc)
  8. and I/O header
  9. a header for power input (7-12VDC)

The Teensy Development Board V1 and schematic are available for $5 locally (at the lunch or AQRP meeting).
There is a Bag-O-Parts, if you want it, which includes the Teensy Development Board V1 and all the board mounted parts, available for $20 locally (at the lunch or AQRP meeting).
Shipment of the Bag-O-Parts overseas (post office, packaging, postage, PayPal) is $30
Shipment of the Bag-O-Parts in the USA (post office, postage, packaging, PayPal) is $25
I've tried to make it avaialble at about cost to encourage others to build and write code. That's what John and I are trying to do here. Please contact me directly if you want to order. If you push "reply" it goes to the whole AQRP reflector.

You program the Teensy via the USB port on your computer, unplug the USB connector, plug Teensy into the Teensy Development Board V1, connect power, and GO.
